Finishing Your Design

10 weeks before my daughter's small wedding I visited two wedding dress shops in my small city. I wanted to shop locally and support a local business. Yeah, good luck with that everyone. The dresses they had on hand were all garish, gaudy with sequins and huge fake baubles, average price of $400 - 500 or more. The staff at both places told me there was no time for me to get anything custom ordered. They literally laughed at me when I told them the wedding was 10 weeks away. It was a truly unpleasant experience. The Wedding Industrial Complex is strong -- you've got to start many months in advance, I guess to brainwash yourself into paying hundreds and hundreds of dollars for a dress you will truly only wear once because it is so hideous.
I went to regular dress shops and found a couple that were okay. But I didn't find the perfect dress till I stumbled upon JJ's House on the web. Could I really order from hundreds of styles, and get exactly the color I wanted? I fell in love with this dress -- simple, elegant, exactly the color and style I wanted. I ordered one size up from my usual size, rather than doing custom measurements, so I could return it if it was terrible quality and didn't fit.
I read all the negative reviews, and wondered if I would get the beautiful dress in the photo or some cheap looking thing that was awful. Seems like customers love or hate their purchases. Well, the dress arrived 21 days after I ordered it and fit perfectly. Lovely lace, finished seams, details -- even the length was just right. I got a clue how nice the dress was when I took it to the local dry cleaners for a professional press and the clerk said, "Wow, that is a beautiful dress." A different clerk who handed it off to me the next day said, "I want this dress! Where did you buy it!" At the wedding everyone I met immediately complimented me on the dress, but most important, I felt lovely and comfortable in it all day. It is simple, elegant, and special. and I paid $140 for the dress, optional overlay jacket and shipping. Very thankful there was an alternative to the local options for a Mother of the Bride dress.
